Healing Through Words: Reflections on Today’s Meet The Author Event
“Still, I remained an optimist,
relinquished areas of pessimist,
to fulfill what was purposed”
Today’s Meet The Author event at the Northeast Regional Library was more than a gathering. It was a sacred space of honesty, openness, and shared humanity. I was deeply moved by the amazing people in attendance who came not just to hear about my book, Can I Just Write, but to bring their own stories, their own struggles, and their own vulnerability into the room.
As voices were lifted and hearts opened, I witnessed something extraordinary. Healing took place. What struck me most was how Can I Just Write continues to prove that it is far bigger than me. It is not simply a book with poems on pages, but a tool connecting hurting souls, healing souls, and beautiful souls across humanity.
About Can I Just Write
At its core, Can I Just Write is a deeply personal and spiritually grounded journey through grief, injustice, fatherhood, faith, identity, and resilience. It is a poetic chronicle of heartbreak and healing, pain and possibility, questions and quiet revelations. Each piece was written from my own lived experiences, but what I continue to discover is that these words belong to all of us.
This impact is being felt far beyond events like today. Can I Just Write has now spent 9 consecutive weeks in Amazon’s Top 100 for Motivational and Inspirational Poetry, peaking as high as #6. This recognition reflects not just my story but the universal connection readers are finding in these pages.
Beyond the Intention
When I wrote this book, my intention was to share pieces of myself, my truths, my struggles, my reflections. But what I witnessed today went beyond intention. The impact was universal. Readers shared how they found themselves in the verses, how the words gave language to feelings they had long carried, and how the space we created together allowed release, hope, and connection.
Gratitude and Forward Movement
I am profoundly grateful to everyone who showed up, opened up, and reminded me that healing is both personal and communal. Thank you to the Wake County Public Library for hosting and to every individual who leaned into vulnerability today.
At its essence, Can I Just Write is not just a book. It is a bridge, connecting us through our humanity. And today proved that when we come together with open hearts, something beautiful always unfolds.
