A Night of Laughter and Connection at the Pink Out Poverty Comedy Show

The Pink Out Poverty Comedy Show that unfolded on a seemingly ordinary Thursday, September 7, 2022, was a shining testament to how a seemingly wild idea can lead to a remarkable outcome. It was a sold-out event, a night where perfect strangers came together and forged meaningful connections.

The spark for this comedy show ignited with a random text from Kelli Wilhelm, a breast cancer champion of 9 years, who expressed her desire to organize a comedy show. At first, the idea seemed like another brilliant concept from Kelli, known for her creativity. However, when she revisited the idea, something significant changed. After delving deep into her own 'why,' a profound sense of purpose emerged, and Love Is A Parable couldn't resist supporting the realization of this vision.

Love Is A Parable is devoted to promoting the importance of values in decision-making. While our mission continues to evolve, our focus remains on how values profoundly affect our everyday judgment.

Kelli, alongside her husband, Pastor Wayne Wilhelm, emphasized that discussions around breast cancer often gravitate towards somber tones. They wanted to shift that narrative. Instead of perpetuating solemnity, they aimed to bring awareness to breast cancer through laughter. The idea wasn't just about raising awareness; it also entailed supporting underserved community members facing various hardships, tying in the Poor People’s Campaign. And with that, the dual mission of the Pink Out Poverty Comedy Show was born.

Bringing this event to life involved reaching out to our network, gathering support, and the result was nothing short of history in the making. What's even more remarkable is that this event was materialized and executed in less than 30 days.

The venue chosen was The Mocha Room, a veteran-owned establishment with a passion for bringing people together in a creative space that offers more than just coffee.

What's particularly fascinating is that, apart from Patrick Burt, a childhood and family friend of the Wilhelms, none of the comedians were known to us before the event. Meeting them on the night of the show was truly wonderful.

The Pink Out Poverty Comedy Show garnered several donations and an outpouring of support that we deeply appreciate. But beyond the financial contributions, the event stands as a testament and an encouragement for anyone sitting on a random idea. It exemplifies the power of connecting with like-minded individuals who can help bring your vision to life.

It's a reminder to trust in the giftings and hearts of others. In a world often shadowed by doubt and fear, the Pink Out Poverty Comedy Show showcases the abundant goodness that exists and the remarkable work that good-hearted people can achieve.

This event was a resounding success, reminding us to believe more than we doubt and love harder than we fear. The positivity that radiated from the show is proof that when we come together with purpose, magic happens.
