Week 24! Rysse listens to her body as she continues the journey

Good Afternoon Everyone,

All I want to say is that I'M SO EXCITED AND PROUD OF MYSELF RIGHT NOW. I met the goal that I mentioned several times in my previous blogs, which is 215. I know it's not my JourneyTo36 goal, but I'm still excited. I actually didn't meet all my fitness goals last week. I took more rest days than usual because it was a couple of days before my menstrual, I was also being lazy. I allowed myself to accept what was and handle(d) it how I saw fit, and that was: eating fries some days as well as being in bed watching movies and eating fruit (just relaxing and resting).

This week I'm taking a break to have some much needed family time. In addition to that, my menstrual cycle is on, so it has me lazy. I ACCEPT IT lol. However, I do plan on staying on track with food, water, and my daily steps. I'm still abstaining from coffee, sweets, and chips. Honestly, I think my body is in carb shock (is that a real thing? Lol) because it's used to me having sweet dates and chips on Sundays. I just wanted to reset because I saw myself getting out of control, but I didn't factor in getting rid of unnecessary carbs that my body had grown accustomed to.

I'm still training for my first 10k run, but I almost gave up. Last Wednesday when I was trying to train my legs were like "not today sis" and I had to stop myself from having a mental fitness breakdown on the trail. I was disappointed in myself. So, I did the next best thing, which was me walking back to my car and crying in peace lol. I realized it was my fault because I had done those eleven miles along with some strength training without taking time to rest. I overworked my body and neglected to have proper rest in between days. I'm a novice to running and I’m still learning to acknowledge "you're not there yet, but you will be with PROPER training and rest", and that's okay. BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF on this new running journey is what I am telling myself now. I forgot to mention the people on the trails are awesome. They said things like "you're doing great" or they would wave as they ran by me. It's little things like that that mean so much to me, because often I would be ready to sit down on one of those benches lol. I would have thoughts like "if running royalty is telling me I'm doing great, I'm taking it".

I also want to thank my friends for assisting me on this new journey. I appreciate y'all so much.

Until next time, remember to BE PATIENT WITH YOU, REST, STAY FOCUSED, HAVE DISCIPLINE, BE CONSISTENT, SPRINKLE IN LOTS OF FUN, MEDITATE, and DRINK YOUR WATER.
