LIAP Transitions: Restructure and Advancement
LIAP on the Move
With growth, there will be some stretching. However, we welcome everything as part of the learning process. With that being said, we would like to make you aware of some of the organizational refinements.
After nearly three years of working with Love Is A Parable, we are saddened by the personal decision of Kirstin Bigham to step down as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Board. Though Kirstin and her family will continue to support and participate in our programs and services, we wanted to personally thank her for her immeasurable contributions to the advancement of Love Is A Parable. Kirstin will continue to remain family and we wish her nothing but success in her future endeavors.
Please help us welcome our newest CFO and Treasurer, Miriel Lawrence!
Miriel Lawrence, a native “Detroiter”, now residing in the Central Texas area by the way of the military. She is a military spouse and veteran. In fact, she received her commission as a Medical Logistic Officer in the United States Army while obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from South Carolina State University. She went on to obtain her Master’s in Accounting from Strayer University while serving four years, active duty.
Professionally, she has over 15 years of accounting experience within the government, managerial, and financial sectors. This passion led to her establishing, Chosen 4 Captial, an accounting and financial services firm, headquartered in central Texas. She is fueled by many of the intricate pieces and sub-components of the financial system. She has a deep passion for learning, teaching, and helping others to understand the importance of being fiduciarily responsible and reaching their financial worth individually and collectively as a business.
She believes that one’s worth is composed of many pieces in different shapes and sizes like a puzzle. With that being said, one cannot force or make improper pieces fit. However, there is a need to be aware of the many pieces to ensure a sound and whole picture. Yes, we must acknowledge the “right and wrong” pieces, too. After transitioning, to the civilian lifestyle, though being a military spouse, she recognized that there is an underserved population of “transition to civilian” and active-duty military that need to be aware of the financial system that many of them served to protect. Therefore, she has made a subset of her mission to be a resource for her brothers and sisters of the armed forces, both active, discharged, and retired.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family. As stated earlier, she is not only a veteran but a spouse of a wonderful, retired Veteran who has honored her with the highest ranking of being the mother of four beautiful children.
