Community Theatre: A Powerful Tool

I would be remiss if I did not give a huge shout out to playwright and veteran actor, Dan Barth.  He possesses a unique ability to write an insanely hilarious Murder Mystery, while assembling and directing a talented, diverse cast.  What I found most impressive was his ability to address the political, social, religious, and racial issues that are prevalent in American Culture.  I’ve always been an advocate of the need to have healthy discussions regarding cultural “isms”.  In my opinion, prejudices, biases, and stereotypes can only exist when ignorance is encouraged and concentrated.  You’ll be surprised by what a little understanding can do.  Dan, not only found a way for us to talk about these issues but to laugh at them too.   Thank you, Dan, for trusting me to represent your work.  See, for me, the “Unnamed Dancer” symbolized the need to challenge covert sexism associated with gender profiling and labeling.  Looking back, it is easy to see that one can make his/her presence known by their ability versus their title; simply put,  do what you do and have FUN with it!.  Life is stressful enough, but it is better when we allow “welcomed interruptions” of dance to invade our space.  Additionally, you affirmed that music is still the ageless-intergenerational language that unifies humanity.    If you didn’t get a chance to experience this “Brilliance” during its run on April 6th and 7th; make sure that you don’t miss it in August.
