A House Divided: Do We Really Want Unity?

The concept of ministry has been tugging at me a lot lately.   It is not that I am wavering in my faith or even losing hope.   I am just unsure of the execution that is being used by those claiming to be ambassadors.  I chuckle at this, only because I rather laugh than cry; however, there seems to be more "self-promoting" than "Kingdom advancing".   In my 12 years of ministry, I have never seen more knowledgeable and "awaken" individuals in my life.  I mean, I have been completely floored by the information that is coming from so many believers.  I have witnessed some believers completely change their lives for the better based on this "new found knowledge".  What I find most interesting is that many of these individuals share the same revelations and have never met one another.      I have even seen social media play a vital role in connecting like-minded individuals, forming virtual relationships, and/or even fellowships.  Though I can see the constant work of the Spirit, aiding and providing sustenance to the body, it saddens me to see that separatism has become the "new" unwritten doctrine.  I recognize that there is a wisdom-deficiency and a disdain for unity amongst believers.

Of course, most of these behaviors are subconscious and covert. In few and rare cases, have I seen overt, intentional dissension. I believe that when we are provided profound knowledge, it is a gift from the Heavenly Father and we should immediately pray for wisdom on how to handle or properly care for this gift.   Now, I could be wrong, but as I scale through scripture, there were few instances where the Father provided knowledge without aiding it with wisdom and/or understanding.  This still drives the point that when gifted with divine knowledge, we are held responsible for seeking wisdom and understanding.   Instead, I see several individuals run to some social platform or media hub to share their revelation.  I often wonder what happened to "divine counsel".    When the gift of knowledge is neglected, we run the risk of obtaining only a surface understanding; which, opens the door for an extremist type of behavior.

This is usually where individuals fail to understand the difference between "to separate" and separatism, better yet, providing the foundation for blurring the lines of righteousness and legalism.  This typically happens when we avoid the process of wisdom and understanding, solely becoming a knowledge-based, emotionally-charged individual.  Inadvertently, this lays the foundation for bitterness and rejection to grow because we feel cheated and lied to.   Not fully understanding that this knowledge should be used to promote unity and light for those who are in darkness.  Divine knowledge should never be used as a "dangling carrot" for ethnoreligious mistreatment, social oppression, political advancement, and/or self-promotion.   I have come to the conclusion that many of us fear unity because it will force us to revisit our past,  mend broken relationship, rebuild burnt bridges, and admit that we may have not exercised proper judgment.   However, if the focus is shifted from us and back on HIM, the uncomfortableness will subside.   This concept of ministry  is about selflessly becoming better, in order to the provide the mortar in the building and advancement of the KINGDOM.

Let us not forget spiritual gifts are "still" necessary and the WORD is alive and active.
